When it comes to family vacations, the paths not typically taken can lead to the most interesting and fulfilling excursions.

The Medina Entertainment Center is a great place to practice dancing skills of all kinds. This month, dancer Julie Lee leads “Dance to Old Time/Variety Music,” complete with a lesson. Go on a date night, or a girls night out and dance the afternoon away in the Grand Ballroom.

The 33rd TwinWest Gala will be held on April 20 at Mystic Lake Center, the newest event and convention center in the Twin Cities metro area.

Starting in June, the Hilde Performance Center will host the Summer Concert Series, featuring musical acts hailing from India to the Andes. Starting on June 13, catch Blue Groove, a local award-winning bluegrass band.

This February, the Seven Dreams Education Foundation is bringing back Bird Bash for its fourth annual fundraising event. Each year, donations through Bird Bash are aimed toward a specific project for Robbinsdale Area schools.

My husband and I really enjoy participating in Three Rivers Park District programs. They host full moon and solstice activities, geocaching for s’mores, winter campfires and lots of other great outdoor activities.

Bloom hosted its annual scholarship benefit on October 7 at Plymouth Creek Center.

For the 21st year, members of the community can join Interfaith Outreach in the annual Sleep Out to raise money for struggling families. From November 12 to December 31, the organization hopes to raise a total of $2,184,000.
