Organization Description: Hammer Residences, Inc. is a Minnesota non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. Founded in 1923 by Alvina Hammer, Hammer provides residential caring support for adult and children with developmental disabilities. Hammer Residences, Inc. serves more than 1500 individuals with a wide range of intellectual disabilities like Autism and Down syndrome. 275 adults reside in 36 group homes and 10 apartment programs in the western suburbs of Minneapolis.

Breanna’s Star: a Night of Art, Celebration and Giving

Breanna’s Star is a Night of Art, Celebration and Giving in support of Breanna’s Gift, an organization bringing classes & workshops in visual arts, dance, music, theater and “Art Takeout” to children at Ronald McDonald House Upper Midwest and Children’s Minnesota in St. Paul and Minneapolis. The event includes appetizers, wine and beer, silent and live auctions, a make-it-yourself art project and entertainment by country/rock/swing band Trailer Trash. Attire is casual.

Alzheimer’s Association Purple Gala – 25th Anniversary

The
Alzheimer’s Association annual Purple Gala is a time to celebrate and honor the
lives of people impacted by Alzheimer’s and other dementias. The evening
includes a reception and silent auction followed by a gourmet dinner, live
auction, entertainment, and after party with a live band. Proceeds from the
Gala raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research.

Firefighters for Healing: Annual Red Tie Gala

When a backdraft explosion occurred in 2010, Jake LaFerriere, a Minneapolis firefighter, suffered third- and fourth-degree burns. Shortly after, he founded Firefighters for Healing to help with emotional and financial support for burn survivors and their families. This festive gala benefits the organization.

Taste of Long Lake

Come out for a great night of drinks, camaraderie and live music—all for good causes. Sample 250+ wines, beers and spirits, and enjoy delicious food provided by local restaurants. Orono artist Steve Noonan will perform with a full band: original music, 12-string guitar, melodic rock. 100% of proceeds benefit Breast Cancer Research, Locks of Love, ALS Research, 8 to a Lamp (building schools in Tanzania) and the Orono Rotary. For the second year in a row, dozens of local retailers will participate in an alternative campaign to Black Friday, known as Plaid Friday. Started five years ago in Oakland, Calif., Plaid Friday encourages consumers to put their holiday gift dollars back into the local economy by shopping at stores in their own communities.

Can Do Canines The Fetching Ball

Come out of the December cold. Warm your heart with a night of good cheer and gifted dogs. Eat, drink, and be festive at our 2015 gala. Hear heart-warming stories and see what wonders await you in our silent and live auctions.

All proceeds help Can Do Canines provide specially trained assistance dogs to people with disabilities, free of charge.

Warning: Prepare to be out-dressed. The doggie fashion show is back!

Amahl and the Night Visitors

Celebrate the nativity story through Gian Carlo Menotti’s one act opera, Amahl and the Night Visitors. Do not miss this internationally renowned work, with live professional eighteen-piece orchestra, that remains one of the most frequently performed modern operas. The opera is performed in English and performances will include a special appearance of the North Star Boys’ Choir.

West Lutheran High School Fall Festival

West Lutheran High School invites you to their fall
festival, West Fall Fest, on Saturday, October 24 from 9am to 3pm.  This fun-filled event will include specialty,
quality craft and farmers market shopping along with fabulous food.  Admission is free. Proceeds from the event
will benefit West Lutheran High School tuition assistance.  West Lutheran High School is located at 3350
