Prehistoric Plants

This month, the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum educates those itching to know the eating habits and diets of prehistoric plant eaters. Hunt for plants in the greenhouse, view spores with a microscope, create a fern print and begin growing a prehistoric plant. Noon–4 p.m. 952.443.1400.

Yoga in the Gardens

It’s easy to find your center when you’re surrounded by gorgeous flowers. Yoga in the Gardens at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, a collaboration with Life Time Fitness, provides the perfect setting to help you get your Zen on as the holiday season approaches. Bring your own mat, water and towel, and be sure to register early—classes fill up fast. 952.443.1440.

Chaska Turkey Trot

Chaska DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) students and members of the Chaska Rotary Club want you to trot like a turkey this weekend to help bring an end to muscular dystrophy. The Chaska Turkey Trot is a family event open to runners and walkers of all ages, with a 5K race for adults and shorter runs for the kids. Gather the family for a day of exercise, and remember all you have to be thankful for this year.

Nature Rocks! Outdoor Center Open House

Cool weather isn’t an excuse to stay cooped up inside. Head to the Eden Prairie Outdoor Center for the regular Nature Rocks! event, and burn off a little of that excess energy. You and the kids can take part in fun, family-friendly, nature-oriented activities such as hiking, crafts and hands-on interaction with animals. Free. 6–8 p.m. 952.949.8479.

Homeschool: L.O.S.T.

Calling all nature-loving homeschoolers. The L.O.S.T. or Living Outside Survival Training program teaches you the skills you need to know how to survive in the woods. Experienced instructors will teach you to build a fire and shelter, how to use signaling, and other wilderness safety tips. Equipment is provided and reservations are required. Orienteering Lesson at Eastman Nature Center

Learn the exciting sport of orienteering. Instructors will teach you how to use a compass and read a map, then you will try-out your new skills and do an outdoor off-terrain orienteering course. Tonka Trot

Join us for ​Fun, Fitness and Community!

This great event features a 10K, 5K, and a 1.5 Family Fun Run. 10K participants will receive a wicking shirt and 5K and 1.5 participants will receive a t-shirt.

Enjoy food and inflatables after the race. All races start and end at Groveland Elementary School in Minnetonka. The runners will enjoy the lake views and beautiful trail system. Stick around and enjoy food and inflatables after the race. This is a Groveland PTA sponsored event open to the entire community.
