DESCRIPTION:The City of Plymouth will hold STEMtacular Saturday—a new event slated for 10 a.m.–noon November 8 at the Plymouth Community Center. \nIn celebration of National STEM/STEAM Day\, families are invited to explore the world of science\, technology\, engineering\, arts and math with hands-on activities\, experiments\, engineering challenges and demonstrations. \nHands-on activities include balloon-powered hovercraft\, catapults\, mini robots and squishy science. Other science spectacles include gummy bear experiments\, sound science\, chemical reactions\, LEGO engineering and 3D printing demos. \nHeld in partnership with the STEM Lab of Minnesota\, STEMtacular Saturday allows participants to experiment freely and move at their own pace through instructor-led activity stations. \nThe event is open to children ages 4 and older\, paired with an adult. Price per couple is $45 for Plymouth residents\, or $54 for non-residents. Cost is $20 for each additional attendee.

DESCRIPTION:In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month\, the Plymouth Public Safety Department will host a Resilient Community Voices event 6–8 p.m. October 28\, at the Plymouth Community Center. \nThe evening will begin with a resource fair featuring local partners\, including domestic violence shelters\, advocacy organizations\, healthcare and legal resources\, law enforcement and more. Attendees will also have the opportunity to visit the interactive “Voices Wall\,” a space created to honor survivors\, reflect and share messages of support. \nAt 7 p.m.\, a panel discussion will bring together community experts to talk about prevention\, intervention and the challenges within systems that impact those experiencing domestic violence. The conversation will conclude with a question-and-answer session. \nTo close the evening\, participants are invited to take part in a 20-minute guided restorative yoga session\, emphasizing the event’s theme of fostering safety\, resilience and community healing through awareness and compassion. \nThe event is free and open to the public. No registration is required.

There will be a short program honoring Austin\, education around brain injury and bike and traffic safety. \nAustin’s Story: Austin Smith was involved in a hit and run while riding his bicycle at the intersection of Rockford Road and Vicksburg Lane. The crash left him blind\, non-verbal\, quadriplegic and with a severe traumatic brain injury. \nSupport the family:  A moment of distraction by another resulted in Austin requiring lifelong care. With your generous support\, this event will help raise funds to bring Austin back home to Minnesota one day so he can live with his family again as he so deserves.

DESCRIPTION:Find your next garden inspiration at the 2023 Hennepin County Master Gardener Volunteer Learning Garden Tour taking place July 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.\, rain or shine.  \nThe tour highlights nine gardens across the northern half of Hennepin County\, including the communities of Corcoran\, Crystal\, Long Lake\, Loretto\, Minneapolis\, New Hope\, Plymouth\, Rogers and Wayzata. The tour features a wide variety of garden settings and inspirational opportunities.    \nEight of the stops are home gardens of Hennepin County Master Gardener volunteers\, demonstrating landscapes that can be adapted to a wide variety of situations. The ninth garden is a special communal garden that serves the food needs of neighboring residents. \nEach garden offers a unique opportunity to learn about the latest trends and techniques – with educational topics such as garden design\, succession planting\, and urban farming – all backed by university-based research.  \nWith special focus on pollinators for 2023\, the Hennepin County Master Gardener Volunteer Learning Garden Tour encourages you to help native and other pollinators thrive at home and in community spaces. Come learn gardening techniques that benefit butterflies\, dragonflies\, wasps and more. \nThe tour also highlights gardening practices that are achievable in almost every setting and by the beginner or experienced gardener.  \nTour features include: \n\nNine one-of-a-kind gardens showcasing a wide variety of designs\, locations\, and styles.\nGifts and goodies at the “Garden Shed\,” offering many fun and useful gardening related accessories\, and the “Book Nook” which is stocked with a wide variety of books for kids and adults.\nFeatured plant lists and garden stories that can inspire your next gardening project. \nA chance to get trusted\, reliable information when you chat with Hennepin County Master Gardener volunteers about your specific questions or concerns.\nA great opportunity to explore urban\, suburban\, and rural garden settings across Hennepin County.\n\nAttendees will leave the garden tour inspired to start or continue work in their own backyards or small spaces.  \nSingle tickets are $15 in advance; $20 on the day of the tour. Discounts are available for groups of 10 or more. Children under 12 get in free with a paying adult. The tour is held rain or shine.
