Commonly referred to as a “silent disco\,” participants wear wireless headphones to dance and sing along to music played through headphones by a DJ. Attendees will have individual control over the volume of their headphones and can select their favorite music from three different channels. As stated in the press release\, “Due to unsafe ice conditions\, the 2024 Fire & Ice Winter Festival has been canceled. Unseasonably warm winter temperatures have not allowed for the necessary ice to support the event on Parkers Lake.” \nThe Fire & Ice Medallion Hunt (set to begin January 4) and the Coloring Contest (set to begin January 8) will be held as planned. DESCRIPTION:The City of Plymouth is set to hold Dialed Down Disco\, a new sensory-friendly event for people of all abilities\, 6-8 p.m. November 10 at the Plymouth Community Center\, 14800 34th Ave. N. \nCommonly referred to as a “silent disco\,” participants may wear wireless headphones to dance and sing along to music played through headphones by a DJ. Attendees will have individual control over the volume of their headphones. \nTo promote a positive sensory experience\, no overhead music will be played through a speaker system\, and the dance floor will not have strobe lights or a disco ball. Sensory bins\, sunglasses and quiet break areas will also be available. \n“We’re excited to continue expanding our sensory-friendly programming in Plymouth\,” said Recreation Supervisor Paul Pearson. “We have offered a variety of sensory-friendly activities over the last couple years and look forward to continue providing inclusive experiences for all community members.”

DESCRIPTION:A variety of community floats will roll through Plymouth City Center on September 23 for the 25th annual Plymouth on Parade. \nFamily Activities – 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. \nThe free event includes family activities and sponsor booths from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the corner of Plymouth Boulevard and 34th Avenue N. Food trucks will offer concessions for purchase. Attendees should bring cash/credit cards for food truck purchases. \nParade – 10:30 a.m. \nThe parade begins at 10:30 a.m. and travels from City Hall\, 3400 Plymouth Blvd.\, to the Plymouth Community Center\, 14800 34th Ave. N. \nThe parade typically features a variety of community participants\, including local organizations\, city vehicles and equipment\, musical acts\, dance and gymnastics groups\, and other lively floats. \nAll activities and entertainment\, aside from food trucks\, are free and open to the public. Superhero Spectacular offers children ages 3-8 the opportunity for one-on-one time with their favorite adult sidekick – and all attendees are encouraged to dress as superheroes. \nChildren will have the opportunity to meet superhero Flexi Girl\, take photos inside a photo booth\, enjoy treat bags\, make a superhero picture frame and dance along with DJ Aaron\, a local DJ and emcee. \nPurchase Tickets in Advance \nAttendees must purchase tickets in advance of the event.
