DESCRIPTION:Our annual Fire & Ice winter festival includes games\, entertainment\, food and fireworks. \nThis event will offer a variety of free activities\, including ice skating\, snowshoeing\, sled dog rides and tube slides. Participants may wander through the snow village or enjoy a winter train ride. For warmth\, attendees may gather around bonfires or in a heated tent and play Bingo. Children may enjoy a snow play area and photo opportunities at the llama meet-and-greet. \nFood will be available for purchase at the event; attendees should bring cash and/or credit cards. \nFire & Ice will conclude with a fireworks display beginning at 6:30 p.m.

SUMMARY:Luce Line State Trail Candlelight Hike
DESCRIPTION:Minnesota state parks and trails will host candlelight events across the state this winter\, including one on the Luce Line State Trail in Plymouth on January 3. Drop by any time between 5-8 p.m. to hike\, ski or snowshoe (weather dependent) as stars twinkle overhead and candles flicker in the snow. \n“Winter candlelight events are a magical way to experience Minnesota’s state parks and trails\,” said Ann Pierce\, director of Parks and Trails at the Minnesota DNR. “There’s something truly special about walking a snowy trail under the glow of candlelight\, where the quiet of the night and the sparkle of the snow create a peaceful escape. It’s a chance to slow down\, connect with nature\, spend time with friends and family and find beauty in the stillness of winter.” \nThe two-mile\, out-and-back trek starts at Gleason Lake Elementary School (210 County Rd. 101\, Plymouth) and extends to Vicksburg Lane. This event is suitable for all ages\, and refreshments will be available at the Vicksburg Lane end of the trail.

The tour features a wide variety of garden settings and inspirational opportunities.    \nEight of the stops are home gardens of Hennepin County Master Gardener volunteers\, demonstrating landscapes that can be adapted to a wide variety of situations. The ninth garden is a special communal garden that serves the food needs of neighboring residents. \nEach garden offers a unique opportunity to learn about the latest trends and techniques – with educational topics such as garden design\, succession planting\, and urban farming – all backed by university-based research.  \nWith special focus on pollinators for 2023\, the Hennepin County Master Gardener Volunteer Learning Garden Tour encourages you to help native and other pollinators thrive at home and in community spaces. Come learn gardening techniques that benefit butterflies\, dragonflies\, wasps and more. \nThe tour also highlights gardening practices that are achievable in almost every setting and by the beginner or experienced gardener.  \nTour features include: \n\nNine one-of-a-kind gardens showcasing a wide variety of designs\, locations\, and styles.\nGifts and goodies at the “Garden Shed\,” offering many fun and useful gardening related accessories\, and the “Book Nook” which is stocked with a wide variety of books for kids and adults.\nFeatured plant lists and garden stories that can inspire your next gardening project. \nA chance to get trusted\, reliable information when you chat with Hennepin County Master Gardener volunteers about your specific questions or concerns.\nA great opportunity to explore urban\, suburban\, and rural garden settings across Hennepin County.\n\nAttendees will leave the garden tour inspired to start or continue work in their own backyards or small spaces.  \nSingle tickets are $15 in advance; $20 on the day of the tour.
