To get involved\, participants should place plants in pots and label them with their common names. Seeds and plant wares—books\, pots\, tools and the like—are also acceptable swap items. \nPlant Swap participants should be on the lookout for jumping worms—an invasive earthworm species that poses a threat to mulch\, plant roots and soil. Metro Blooms Design + Build landscape designers will lead a presentation on pollinator-friendly plantings and land care practices that can be used in home gardens. \nFollowing the presentation\, attendees will meet in small groups with landscape designers and master gardeners to discuss project ideas and plans. Topics include selecting native trees and shrubs\, designing a native plant garden and pollinator-friendly maintenance practices. \nThe workshop is free for Plymouth residents\, but preregistration is required. Attendees may also take a ride in a snowplow at the event\, and children may enter a drawing to win a ride to school in a plow truck. Staff will share the city’s approach to effectively using salt while minimizing its negative impacts on the environment. \nThe event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be available while supplies last.
