The City of Plymouth is set to hold Dialed Down Disco, a new sensory-friendly event for people of all abilities, 6-8 p.m. November 10 at the Plymouth Community Center, 14800 34th Ave. N.
Commonly referred to as a “silent disco,” participants may wear wireless headphones to dance and sing along to music played through headphones by a DJ. Attendees will have individual control over the volume of their headphones.
To promote a positive sensory experience, no overhead music will be played through a speaker system, and the dance floor will not have strobe lights or a disco ball. Sensory bins, sunglasses and quiet break areas will also be available.
“We’re excited to continue expanding our sensory-friendly programming in Plymouth,” said Recreation Supervisor Paul Pearson. “We have offered a variety of sensory-friendly activities over the last couple years and look forward to continue providing inclusive experiences for all community members.”
