Lunds & Byerlys, voted Plymouth’s Best Specialty Foods/Kitchen Store, is focused on keeping its customers loyal.
How does Lunds & Byerlys keep its customers loyal with all the grocery options available? Although there’s been a dramatic increase over the last decade, retailers do come and go, says senior communications manager Aaron Sorenson.
“We’ve seen a lot of that over our 80-plus years. For us, it always comes back to maintaining that focus we’ve always had around quality, expertise and customer service, which starts with our extended family of employees. If you’re familiar with our stores, you’ve seen their passion for serving our customers.”
What the stores don’t always get credit for? “Some great deals,” Sorenson says. New this year is Lunds & Byerlys Extras—a rewards program with deals each week, price alerts, coupons and a tool for making custom grocery lists. And it’s all done digitally.
Also new are L&B Meal Creations, containing ingredients for meals for two. “We use only quality ingredients, and we have an executive chef who focuses … on recipes for meal kits. They’re quick to prepare—40 minutes or less. Options include chicken Caprese pasta, street tacos and meats for grilling. And we use a lot less packaging than some competitors,” says Sorenson.
Seafood steamers are another new addition. Packages contain one serving of the best salmon, tilapia or jumbo shrimp, mixed veggies and fingerling potatoes. “Take it home, put it in the microwave for four minutes. It’s phenomenal,” Sorenson says. “Until you try it, you can’t appreciate how good it is.”
Lunds & Byerlys was voted Best Specialty Foods/Kitchen Store in the 2019 Best of Plymouth readers’ survey.
