This photo, Helping Hand by Scott Mohn won third place in the “Activity and Events” category of 2019’s Picture Plymouth photo contest. We love how this image of sharing s’mores on a winter day shows human warmth in contrast to the cold of winter.
Scott says, “The challenge and opportunity with a photo like this is to try a present an image the viewer can feel a connection with. It doesn’t necessarily need to be the same one(s) the photographer feels, but it would be nice. When I saw this interaction, I felt the potential for a powerful image. As this was a city event, the most obvious were a sense of community, friendship and as the title says, helpfulness. I imagined a few others, but I will leave them for others to decide.”
